The Schweppes ARL Masters Carnival is now a major event on the Rugby
League calendar. It proves that there is a huge demand for retired
players to continue their active involvement in the game.
The first event was held at the Runaway Bay Junior Leagues Club on
Queensland’s beautiful Gold Coast in March 2007 - there were over 400
participants in attendance and it was an outstanding success.
In
March 2008, 800 participants took part, including our first overseas
team – the Hibiscus Coast Raiders from Auckland, New Zealand.
The
2009 carnival was the most successful yet with over 1,000 participants
from 48 teams taking part. We also welcomed another overseas team from
Norfolk Island.
The ARL thanks the Runaway Bay Junior
Leagues Club (“The Home of the Masters”), Schweppes, the Queensland
Government Regional Development Program and the Gold Coast City Council
for their support of the ARL Masters.
We look forward to seeing all of our old friends again at Runaway Bay in March 2010.
